Bourbon and coffee share many flavor compounds—chocolate, roasted nuts, and caramel. This recipe bridges them using concentrated coffee bitters rather than hot coffee.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Bourbon

  • 0.25 oz Simple Syrup

  • 2-3 dashes Coffee Bitters (or Chocolate Bitters)

  • Garnish: Orange Peel

Directions

  • Combine: Add bourbon, simple syrup, and the coffee bitters to a mixing glass.
  • Stir: Add ice and stir until well chilled.
  • Strain: Strain over a large clear ice cube.
  • Garnish: Express the orange peel over the glass and drop it in.

Notes

  • If you cannot find coffee bitters, a splash (0.25 oz) of cold brew concentrate works, though you may need to reduce the dilution (stir slightly less) to avoid a watery drink.
