2 oz Bourbon
0.25 oz Brown Sugar Syrup (2 parts dark brown sugar dissolved in 1 part water)
2 dashes Angostura Aromatic Bitters
Garnish: Orange Peel
Directions
- Prep: If you don’t have syrup pre-made, muddle 1 tsp of loose brown sugar with a splash of water until fully dissolved (no graininess).
- Combine: Add bourbon, syrup (or dissolved sugar), and bitters to a mixing glass.
- Stir: Stir with ice until the glass feels very cold to the touch.
- Strain: Strain over a large cube.
- Garnish: Express orange oils and insert peel.
Notes
- This version pairs exceptionally well with high-proof bourbons (100 proof+), as the rich sugar stands up to the heat of the alcohol.
